On September 28th, children from Canton Head Start visited the Canton Fire Station to start off Fire Prevention 2023. Fire Prevention Office Dan Aldous, Firefighter Drew Johnson and Firefighter Erik Johnson showed the kids fire trucks and Ambulances as well as a variety of hand tools. The kids were excited to see the interior of the fire trucks, especially the Ambulances, where patients are treated by EMT's. Firefighter Drew Johnson dressed in full turnout gear including an air pack to show that firefighters are not scary creatures. The kids were able to feel the gear and listen to the sounds that wearing an air pack makes so they are not frighten by firefighters in the event they encounter a home emergency. The tour was concluded with a group picture and each child was given a coloring book, a red fire hat and other goodies.
