Early Morning Garage Fire Wakes Three Departments

At 0338 hours this morning, Canton Fire and Rescue were dispatched to a reported working garage fire at 181 Rice Rd. 2nd Asst Chief Erik Johnson arrived on scene to find a fully involved working garage fire including a vehicle fire that was in proximity to the structure. While enroute, Chief Johnson requested mutual aid from Dekalb Fire and Hermon Fire. Shortly after the fire apparatus from all departments arrived on scene, firefighters from all three departments made short work of putting out the fire. Because of the significant fire damage to the structure, there was significant overhaul to ensure the fire was fully extinguished. St. Lawrence County Fire Investigation Team was requested to the scene, and all Canton units returned back to into service at 0545 hours.
