E-8, TA-20, and R-1 were out at the Finnigan Road to assist a property owner burn a dilapidated house on the property while providing valuable training to our members. The house was a two story wood frame with a basement that had been abandoned for several years and partially fallen in. There was also a classic car that the owner requested be protected for the value of its parts. Despite a slow start, the house was eventually fully consumed by fire. The classic car was successfully protected and the homeowners expressed their great appreciation. This was a great opportunity for the firefighters on scene to observe some interesting and abnormal fire behavior, showing how unpredictable fire can be. This controlled burn also provided the members to train with water supply operations and hoseline placement. Thank you to West Potsdam Fire for bringing their tanker to the scene as back up and Johnson's Towing for their lock out kit.
