Canton Fire dispatched 11:18 mutual aid to West Potsdam Fire for manpower and extrication to the scene of a two car MVA at the intersection of St Hwy 310 and CR 34 in a construction zone. Rescue 1 en route 11:20 chauffeured by Assistant Chief McGregor. Canton Fire toned for traffic control assistance for road closure at 11:21. Rescue 1 on scene 11:25, Rescue 36 out of service 11:28 for traffic control. The pickup truck showed obvious front end and driver-side damage and steering wheel airbag deployment. Driver of the vehicle was unresponsive, EMS providers on scene felt a palpable pulse and requested rapid extrication. Captain Gavin utilized hydraulic extrication tools to remove the drivers side door enough for EMS to remove patient. Patient was transported to Canton Potsdam hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries. Rescue 1 back in service 12:22, Rescue 36 back in service after road was reopened. Eight members of the Canton Fire department responded to the incident.
