Rope And Water Rescue Training For Canton Fire & Rescue

Canton Fire and Rescue took the time to refresh on rope and water rescue traning. With the low water level, this was a perfect opportunity to train before we are called into action for the "Real Thing". In order to simulate the "Real Thing", a floating mannequin was used as the victim and was tied off to float in the middle of the Grasse River. The objective of the personnel was to work together and use all of their available resources to rescue the "victim" from the water. EMS personnel had the chance to watch the response of the firefighters and were able to learn how to assist with removing the victim from the water. Once the victim was removed, the EMS personnel were directed on how to care for a person that may have to be rescued from these conditions.
All members in attendance had the opportunity to work hands-on during the drill and it was a great learning opportunity for all involved.
