At 0735 the tones dropped for Canton Fire and Rescue for a reported one car rollover with injuries on SH 310. A NYSP car came upon the accident just after it happened and made the request for fire and ems and the troopers initiated patient care immediately. Assistant Chief Brian McCluskey was enroute immediately, arriving on scene to find a Nissan Sentra on its roof, nose down in a culvert next to a residential driveway. An intial assessment of the patient still in the vehicle found her with non-life threatening injuries but unable to exit the vehicle. Chief Bob Crowe arrived soon after, assuming command and assigning Chief McCluskey to Rescue Operations. Rescue 1 arrived and began the extrication operation. County Fire Instructor Allen Rickett was driving by enroute to teach Firefighter 1 and stopped to provide assistance as well. The Rescue 42 struts were placed to stabilize the vehicle. The extrication lasted approximately 30 minutes as the car was carefully cut apart to remove the trapped victim. Once the patient was removed, she was transported along with her daughter by A-133 to Canton Potsdam Hospital.
