Canton Fire was toned out this evening to respond equipment to Main Street for a large area that had been washed away from the heavy rains that day. The entire street had been under construction and the loose soil/sand could not stand up to the heavy downpours. Upon arrival it was determined that there were multiple areas of concern with the main one being an approximate 10-15 feet deep hole that stretched 30 feet long and 10-15 feet wide. The Canton crew split into two sections, setting up lighting and providing traffic control to prevent anyone from getting hurt in the washed out areas. The scene was turned over to the DOT and Luck Bros. Construction once they had gathered the manpower and equipment to light the scene on their own.
