| Firefighters from the Canton and Potsdam Fire Departments staffed the St. Lawrence County Fire Chief's Association Fire Safety Trailer at the Cornell Cooperative Extension's Harvest Fest 2006. Over 200 people passed through the trailer during the 4 hours on Saturday afternoon. Participants were given lessons in fire safety in the home, how to call 911, and how to exit when the room is full of smoke. After the lesson was delivered, the respective rooms were charged with theatrical smoke and the participants were shown how to stay low and get to the nearest exit. Special thanks go out ot the members of the Potsdam Fire Department who came over to help us out. The event was a great success and hopefully will become an annual fire prevention opportunity for the department. |
