At 0308 hours, Canton Fire, Canton Rescue and County Car 4 were dispatched auto aid to Pyrites Fire for a reported vehicle fire threatening a structure.

Canton Engine 7 was enroute at 0316 hours followed by Tanker 20. Chief Holcomb (4-4) arrived onscene, confirming a working car fire within feet of a garage attached to a residence, and assumed command.

Engine 7 arrived and crews went to work, pulling an 1 3/4” hand line and cooled the garage before knocking down the bulk of the fire. The fire was under control within 5 minutes. Pyrites ETA-90 hooked a 2 1/2” line to supply water to Engine 7.

Crews spent the next 40 minutes putting out hot spots and containing a fuel leak from the burnt vehicle, as well as using a TIC (Thermal Imaging Camera) to assure there was no smoldering in the walls or roof of the garage. There was no major damage to the garage or the house, only some melted siding.

There were no firefighter or civilian injuries, and all Canton units were back in service at 0436 hours.
