Car Fire in Morley

Morley Fire, Canton Fire, Canton Rescue and SLC Car 4 (Hammond) were dispatched at 1217 pm for a car fire, initially reported as threatening a structure within 20 feet. Engine 7 chauffeured by Asst. Chief Cary with crew and TA-20 chauffeured by Past Chief Crowe were enroute at 1221 pm, Canton Fire Captain Gavin arrived on scene prior to Engine crew and reported no structures threatened, however a Jeep was within about 10 feet and the fire had extended to the roof rack and right rear taillight. Asst. Chief Johnson arrived on scene just moments before Engine 7 crew at 1230 pm. Asst. Chief Johnson assumed command of the scene, instructed Engine 7 crew to pull two lengths from the bumper line and attach to side discharge.

Engine 7 crew led by Asst. Chief Holcomb began extinguishing the pickup that was fully involved at the time of arrival. Within minutes the crew had extinguished the blaze with a 1 1/2 inch line and around 750 gallons of water. The vehicle was insured. There were no firefighter or civilian injuries. Morley Fire responded with a Tanker to the scene. All crews were in service at 1307.
