| At 0351 hours, Canton Fire was dispatched automatic aid to Pyrites for a possible structure fire along with Canton Rescue and County Car 4. Canton Engine 7 (Captain B. McCluskey) was en-route at 0359 hours followed by Tanker 20 (Pinckney), Engine 8 (Chief Cary) and Rescue 1 (D. Johnson). Canton 4-3 (Chief E. Johnson) arrived on scene, assumed command per 37-1 (Pyrites Chief) and activated the Tanker Task Force which brought in tankers from Russell, DeKalb, Hermon, Pierrepont and West Potsdam Fire Departments. Chief Johnson then requested Potsdam Fire to the scene for Interior Manpower to assist. Firefighters got the fire under control in about 15 minutes. Firefighters from all departments worked on the scene for the next 5 hours conducting overhaul operations and dousing hotspots with water and foam mixture to smother any remaining fire. A total of 11 Canton Fire personnel responded, there were no firefighter or civilian injuries. All Canton Units were back in service at 0724 hours. |
