At 2325 Hours, Canton Fire was dispatched to respond an engine, tanker and manpower to 247 Tracy Road, Lisbon for a working structure fire. Tanker 20 was enroute at 2330 while Engine 8 followed shortly after. As Engine 8 checked enroute, Lisbon Fire Chief (19-1) requested Engine 8 to set up draft to fill tankers at the NYS DEC boat launch on State Highway 68 in the Town of Canton. Tanker 20 arrived at the scene of the fire at 2340 hours. Engine 8’s crew set up at the boat launch, using a chainsaw to cut through the ice on the river to establish draft. Engine 8 pumped for 4 hours filling tankers. Due to the extremely cold temperatures (-13°F), tankers were having a difficult time keeping their intakes and valves from freezing. Members used multiple propane torches to thaw out intakes and gate levers. A total of 9 Canton Fire members responded, and all units were back in service at 0338 hours.
