At 1957 the tones dropped for Canton Fire, Canton Rescue, and County Car 4 for a reported house fire at 58 West Main Street. Engine 6 and a crew had been doing training at the Midtown Plaza and were enroute at 2001, arriving at 2003 fully staffed. Tower 1 and Rescue 1 responded shortly thereafter along with County Car 10, covering for Car 4. The engine crew stretched a line into the house while the Tower was positioned for roof access. The fire had extended from the stovepipe to the adjacent was and framing. The fire was quickly knocked down and salvage and overhaul operations commenced to ensure that there was no additional fire extension. Canton Rescue personnel evaluated the occupant of the residence and he was released without treatment. Canton Police, SUNY Canton University Police, and St. Lawrence County Sheriffs assisted with traffic control on scene. All Canton Fire personnel were back in service at 2141 hours and there were no injuries.
