After a full week of fire station toursand school assemblies at both the Siena School and the Banford Elementary School, fire prevention week activities conclude. Students learned the importance of smoke alarms, keeping their door closed when sleeping, knowing two ways out, having a safe meeting place, and knowing their address if they ever have to call 911 in an emergency. Every student saw and heard a firefighter in full turnout gear with an air pack on. Friday morning the smoke detector contest winners were given a ride to school in a fire truck and the activities concluded with a fire response to the school where students saw firefighters set up and operate each truck.....and were surprised by Sparky the fire dog. Next week fire safety activities continue in our community at the Canton Head Start and Canton Day Care.
