Fire Prevention Week is off and running. Our first stop on Monday October 6, firefighters visited the Sienna School in Canton for a whole school assembly. Students were taught what to do when a smoke alarm is activated, having two ways to escape their home, having a safe meeting place, and how to call 911. After the assembly, students were able to go through a fire truck inside and out. Fire Safety brochures were distributed to the Canton Housing Authority high rises on Riverside drive, One Law Lane, and to both St. Lawrence University and SUNY Canton students.

On Tuesday, firefighters visited the Canton Central's Banford School for assemblies for first and second grades. A video of the 3 P's of fire safety was played. The three P's of fire safety are:

Planning- having working smoke detectors, knowing two ways out and having a meeting place.
Practicing- Practicing fire escape from both your window and door
Prevention- Not playing with fire or around hot stoves and heaters

Fire Prevention Activities continue all this week
