At 1329 hours, Canton Fire, Canton Rescue, and County Car 4 were dispatched to 3 Giffin Rd for power lines down with a possible field on fire. Chief E. Johnson (4-3) checked on scene at 1337 hours, confirming that there was a field fire with lines down and heavy winds were causing the fire to spread rapidly. Engine 8, R-36 with UTV-4 and Tanker 20 responded at 1341 hours. 4-3 also requested Pierrepont Fire for a tanker to the scene. Rescue 1 responded shortly thereafter. Once units arrived on-scene, Engine 8 deployed saws to cut through the woods as well as the 1 3/4" handline to get a quick knockdown as UTV-4 was being deployed. There were no firefighter or civilian injuries, 10 Canton Fire members responded and all units were back in service at 1447 hours.
