At 1834 hours, Canton Fire, along with Canton Rescue and Canton PD, were dispatched to a reported car fire at the Mountain Mart on East Main Street. Captain Dan Holcomb was on scene within 2 minutes reporting a fully involved car fire parked in front of the Mountain Mart threatening the building. Assistant Chief Shawn McGregor and Chief Bob Crowe arrived right after Captain Holcomb and deployed the four fire extinguishers from the fuel island in an effort to knock the fire down and lessen the exposure to the building. Engine 8 arrived and its crew deployed a handline to knock down and extinguish the fire. The vehicle,  was a total loss and there was some damage to the building. The St. Lawrence County Fire Investigation Team was requested to investigate the cause of the fire. At this time, the fire remains under investigation by the team and the Canton Police Department.  Nineteen members of the department responded and all units were back in service at 2130 hours.

As special thanks to the Mountain Mart along with Dunkin Donuts and Kentucky Fried Chicken. They provided chicken and drinks to the members while they were on scene. The support from the community was greatly appreciated.
