St. Lawrence County has declared a State of Emergency for a period of time beginning at 6pm on August 9, 2016 and continuing in effect for a period not to exceed five (5) days and ending at 6pm on August 14, 2016.

The State of Emergency has been declared due to extremely dry conditions resulting in numerous out of control grass and brush fires throughout the County. Such conditions threaten the public safety of the citizens of St. Lawrence County.

As of Tuesday, August 9, 2016 at 6pm, no person shall intentionally set an open fire throughout St. Lawrence County, with the exception of a camp fire at a designated State, Federal, or Department of Environmental Conservation licensed campgrounds where the camp fires are in fire rings that confine and contain the camp fire.

This order supersedes all burning permits and will extend through Sunday, August 14, 2016 at 6pm unless rescinded or extended.
