Come one, come all to our open house and recruiting event this Saturday, April 23, 2016 at the Canton Fire Station at 77 Riverside Drive. Doors open at 1pm. Be ready to experience the fire and EMS side of life through interactions with our volunteer personnel as well as taking tours of our station and our equipment. Throughout the event, we will be hosting different demonstrations for the public to see what we may encounter on a call.

You can even bring your kids! For all the kids we will have the St. Lawrence County Fire Prevention Smoke Trailer as well as opportunities for the kids to use a fire hose to knock down different targets. Plus, what kid does not like seeing big red fire trucks and even having the opportunity to see them face-to-face!

For the adults, we will be having a vehicle extrication demonstration as well as information about what we do and opportunities for membership and training. Adults can also tour our station, apparatus, and other equipment while meeting amazing members of our wonderful Canton Fire & Rescue family. Throughout the event everyone can enter to win door prizes.

You may be asking yourself, why are they doing this? Very simply, we are looking to interact with our community in a non-emergency setting. Every day you may see us go through town in our fire trucks or ambulances with our lights and sirens going. Perhaps we have never had the opportunity to meet each other. We want our great Canton community to have an opportunity to meet the people that they see responding to emergencies. We want to spark an interest in our great community to consider joining our amazing family so that they can help their friends, families, and neighbors in ways never thought before.

Throughout our community you may have seen posters for this event, or maybe you have seen advertisements in our local papers or online, or maybe you have even heard our announcement on 99.3 FM! We want to get the word out that we care about our amazing Canton community. We would like to take this opportunity to meet some of our community members!

So come on down to the Canton Fire Station at 77 Riverside Drive, Canton, NY, on Saturday, April 23, 2016, from 1pm-4pm for this great event!
