Canton Fire and Rescue was dispatched auto aid to Morley Fire at 1217 hours for a reported vehicle on fire in a garage at 796 Sykes Road. Chief Bob Crowe was enroute within minutes and arrived on scene at 1224 to find a full size Chevy pickup on fire with extension to the garage. The garage had a significant amount of fire with an attached exposure of a barn and an house within 20 feet. Morley TA 30 and ETA 37 were the first fire apparatus to arrive on scene. A 2 1/2" line was stretched and the bulk of the accessible fire was knocked down. Tankers and manpower were requested to the scene from Madrid Fire and West Potsdam Fire. Canton Engine 7, Tanker 20, and Rescue 1 arrived on scene shortly thereafter. Additional 1 3/4" lines were stretched and an interior attack was mounted to extinguish the remainder of the fire. Personnel from the Madrid and West Potsdam went to work when they arrived on scene, assisting with an extended overhaul operation to ensure all the hidden fire had been exposed and extinguished. Damage was limited to the truck and a portion of the garage. There was no extension to any of the exposures and a number of items in the garage were left virtually untouched by the fire. Fire investigators from the St. Lawrence County Fire Investigation Team responded to the scene to conduct the cause and origin investigation. All Canton units were back in service at 1535 hours.
