On 22 February, 2016, at 1358 hours, Canton Fire was dispatched to 49 West Main Street for a reported fire in an apartment. 4-4 (Chief Lawrence) was the first on scene with mattresses smoldering in the courtyard and a small fire still burning within the apartment. The crew of E-6 was the next to arrive on-scene and they used a water can to extinguish the remaining fire within the apartment. After the initial attack with the water can the fire was placed under control. Fans were brought in to vent the remaining smoke out of the apartment. A 1 ¾” hose was used to extinguish the still smoldering mattresses. Canton Fire was back in service and in quarters by 1432 hours. There were no injuries to any civilians or personnel.
