At 0044 hours on January 29, 2016, Canton Fire & Rescue was dispatched to 400 State Highway 310 for a reported chimney fire. 4-3 (Dan Aldous) was the first on-scene and immediately called for a second alarm for smoke and fire showing. E-7 arrived on-scene and the crew stretched a 1 ¾” hose line to the living room in the rear of the structure where the fire was located. Crews immediately went to work pulling the tongue and groove pine ceiling down to reach the fire that had started to spread further into the attic. As the interior attack was going on, ladders were being set up on the exterior to remove siding to allow access to the fire from outside. Thanks to a quick and aggressive attack the fire was knocked down and placed under control with no spread to the rest of the residence. Once the fire was under control, the process of salvage and overhaul proceeded protecting items in the rest of the house from damage. A special thanks to Morley Fire, Canton PD, and all other mutual aid personnel on scene for the help with the successful save of the residence. There were no injuries to any civilians or personnel. Canton Fire & Rescue was back in service and in quarters at 0223 hours.
