Central Dispatch alerted Canton Fire and Rescue at 0926 hours to a mutual aid call to assist Pierrepont Fire for a structure fire at 277 Post Road. The initial request was for the tanker and an ambulance. A request for a pumper and manpower followed shortly thereafter. Ambulance 133, Tanker 20 and Engine 8 all responded. The fire, in a machinery storage building, was threatening the main dairy barn. Quick action by Pierrepont firefighters, along with the mutual aid companies, was able to prevent extension to that barn and what surely would have been a catastrophe for the farmer. All Canton units were back in service at 1224 hours.
