The Canton Fire Department, in conjunction with SUNY Canton and the New York State Office of Fire Prevention and Control, conducted a mock dorm burn to culminate the SUNY Canton Safety Day. The room was constructed by SUNY Canton and outfitted with all the trappings of a normal dorm room, including a number of fire safety violations commonly found by NYS OFPC inspection personnel during routine inspections.The room went from ignition to fully involved in under two minutes, giving the students in attendance the realization of how little time they have to escape and how important is it so stay fire safe!
