Truck vs. Pole

St. Lawrence County Central Dispatch alerted Canton Fire/Rescue at 1209 hours to a reported vehicle into a utility pole on State Highway 68 in the vicinity of what is locally known as the ATC Curve. Units were enroute shortly thereafter. Fire Chief Bob Crowe arrived on scene to find a pickup truck into a telephone pole on the north side of the curve. The driver was out of the vehicle and denying any injury. EMS personnel evaluated the driver and firefighters controlled traffic. The truck had broken the pole off and come to rest atop a fiber optic line splice box. Verizon was notified and requested to the scene to secure the fiber optic line and the pole. The vehicle was removed from the splice box and towed from the scene by Johnson Towing and Recovery. All units were back in service at 1310 hours.
