The Canton Fire Department wants to remind everyone to take the opportunity to replace the batteries in your smoke detectors when you change your clocks for Daylight Savings Time this evening. We also recommend that you check the date of manufacture on your smoke detectors as well. Smoke detectors have a limited effective life and should be replaced every 10 years. A working smoke detector can mean the difference between life and death should a fire occur in your home.
