| At approximately 9:07 am Canton Fire Department was dispatched to a call at St Lawrence Property at the Augsbury Sports Complex for smoke filling the Building. 4-2, 1st Assistant Chief Bob Crowe, was en route to the scene to begin investigation. While en route radio calls from SLU Security on scene confirmed a smoke condition near the locker rooms and squash courts, possibly stemming from a possible electrical fire in the mechanical rooms of Augsbury. Engine 7 and Tower 1 checked en route shortly behind 4-2 with man power to assist in searching for any fire conditions. Upon arrival of all CFD units, a light smoke condition was found but the source of the smoke was still to be determined. Upon a thorough search and investigation by CFD firefighters, a motor in the mecahnical rooms was found to be excessively hot using the Thermal Imaging Camera, and had apparently burned up. No working fire was found however and the smoke was ejected from the building using PPV fans. All units were quickly back in service and no injuries were reported. |
